What Nova says publicly it does not receive, store, or keep a copy of.
What Nova does not have
Privacy in Nova is not only a data policy. It is also a product architecture point. This page summarizes what Nova already says publicly about the secrets it does not keep.
In short
- Nova says publicly that it does not have the user's password.
- Nova says publicly that it does not have the user's .novakey file.
- Nova says publicly that it does not have the user's BIP39 seed.
- Nova says it cannot recover the wallet without those pieces.
What Nova publishes today
In the Portuguese privacy policy, Nova says it does not receive, store, transmit, or keep a copy of three central items:
- the user’s password
- the
.novakeyfile - the BIP39 seed
What changes because of that
That architecture has practical consequences:
- Nova cannot recover the user’s wallet.
- Nova cannot move the user’s balance.
- Nova is not a single point of failure for possession of funds.
