Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026-05-01

Nova is in pre-launch. This page reflects the current application behavior and known service dependencies. The final operating legal entity, governing law, venue, and regulated partner notices must be completed before broader public launch. Questions go to hello@novadao.app.

1. Acceptance

By using Nova, creating an account, joining the waitlist, using checkout, or using the API, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Nova.

Signup currently records acceptance when you create an account. The app may show acceptance text instead of a separate checkbox.

2. What Nova is

Nova is self-custodial wallet software and a service interface for the Liquid network, DePix/PIX flows, public payment links, and Nova APIs.

Nova is not a bank, broker, investment adviser, exchange, yield product, or deposit-taking institution. Nova does not pay interest or yield on balances. Network assets, DePix, stablecoins, and payment rails can carry issuer, network, liquidity, counterparty, regulatory, and operational risks.

3. Self-custody

Your wallet is controlled by your local credentials: your password and .novakey. Nova does not receive your plaintext password, decrypted .novakey, seed words, or private keys.

You are responsible for:

  • keeping your password and .novakey safe;
  • keeping backups in places you control;
  • verifying addresses, amounts, assets, PIX keys, and checkout details before confirming;
  • maintaining your device and browser security;
  • understanding that blockchain transactions are usually irreversible.

If you lose both the password and .novakey, Nova cannot recover wallet access.

4. Eligibility and account rules

You must be at least 18 years old, have legal capacity, provide truthful information, and comply with laws that apply to your use. During pre-launch, Nova may require a valid invite code and may limit account creation, features, geographies, payment methods, or API access.

You may not use Nova to commit fraud, launder money, evade sanctions, attack the service, scrape or overload systems, bypass rate limits, resell accounts, impersonate others, violate intellectual-property rights, or process unlawful payments.

Nova may suspend, restrict, or close app/API access when needed for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, operational integrity, or violation of these Terms. Because Nova is self-custodial, an app suspension does not give Nova technical control over funds already controlled by your wallet keys.

5. Payments, PIX, DePix, and third parties

PIX-to-DePix deposits and withdrawals depend on third-party payment providers, including Eulen/DePix where enabled. Those providers and any regulated institutions behind the payment rail may apply their own terms, limits, reviews, outages, fees, policies, and legal duties.

Nova may show QR codes, copy-paste PIX payment data, deposit addresses, statuses, receipts, bank/payment-institution fields, and transaction history. Payment timing, settlement, reversals, limits, and availability can depend on the provider, banks, the PIX rail, Liquid network conditions, and public blockchain infrastructure.

6. Payment links and public checkout

If you create payment links, you are responsible for the link name, amount, sales limits, payer data requested, tax treatment, customer support, refunds, chargebacks or disputes, and legal compliance for what you sell or collect.

Public checkout pages may display your handle, profile information, avatar if uploaded, and payment details needed for the payer to complete checkout. If you ask for payer name or email, you are responsible for using that payer data lawfully.

7. API and webhooks

API keys are account credentials. Keep them secret, rotate them when needed, and use allowlists where possible. You are responsible for webhook endpoints you configure, including their security, availability, logs, and handling of Nova-signed payloads.

Nova may rate-limit, reject, or suspend API traffic that appears abusive, unsafe, misconfigured, or unlawful.

8. Fees and taxes

Nova, payment providers, issuers, liquidity providers, and networks may charge fees. Fees can change. Where the app controls the fee display, Nova aims to show applicable fees before confirmation.

You are responsible for taxes, reporting, bookkeeping, and legal duties that apply to your transactions, sales, withdrawals, or holdings.

9. Security and irreversible actions

Nova provides security controls, but you are responsible for your device, email account, browser, backups, and transaction review. Nova will never ask for your password, seed words, or decrypted .novakey.

If you send assets to the wrong address, use the wrong network, pay the wrong PIX key, delete your local wallet data without a backup, or disclose your credentials, Nova may be unable to undo the result.

10. Intellectual property

Nova’s code is licensed as GPL-3.0-or-later where published in this repository. That license does not grant rights to misuse Nova’s name, marks, product identity, domain names, or private infrastructure.

11. Privacy

Nova’s Privacy Policy explains what the app and server process, including account data, local wallet storage, auth risk telemetry, optional app diagnostics, payment records, API records, and support data. It is part of these Terms.

12. Availability and changes

Nova is in pre-launch. Features can change, be unavailable, or be disabled.

Nova may change these Terms at any time, as allowed by applicable law, by publishing a new version on this page. Check this page regularly. Nova will notify significant changes by email to the registered address and, when appropriate, may require renewed acceptance.

The final governing law, venue, corporate entity, and partner notices still need legal completion before broader public launch. Until then, mandatory consumer, data-protection, and other rights that apply to your use remain unaffected.

13. Contact

Questions, privacy requests, legal notices, support, and abuse reports go to hello@novadao.app.
